Blewbury dog park is the next in the Dog Fields series. The field is massive – it’s 4.5 acres (around 2 ha) of land with a belt of woodland in the middle of it. We have been coming to this secure dog field most frequently.

Upon arrival, once you turn off from Bessel’s Way onto the farm road, you will see a white house in front of you with the surrounding farm buildings. On this house, a sign shows the direction to the dog park (to the left). The dog park will be at the back of the rows of storage containers, and you can park your car right by the entrance to the field.

It’s very securely fenced and has been approved as inescapable by our escape artist Pequi.

The field itself has a small shelter from the rain just by the entrance with a bucket of water for dogs and a dog waste bin. The facilities are not as nice as in Hagbourne dog field. However, we feel the girls have a lot of fun in this field, as there’s so much to sniff and so many corners to check.

In the rainier days, the area around the gate and in front of the shelter gets really quite muddy, therefore I suggest bringing a towel with you to clean the muddy paws. However, this is our favourite dog park for the girls on dry days.

One side of the field is Bessel’s Way, on another side there’s allotment, and on the remaining two there’s the farmland. In the summer, girls are always drawn towards the fence with allotments, as there’s people and other dogs to check out.

Their website warns that there might be farm animals grazing nearby, but we’ve never really seen any – they’re always so far away the girls don’t really notice them.

Since the time of writing, we have been there again and the left side of the field has now been fenced off just behind the woodland belt. This means that around a third of the field has now been separated for sheep grazing. There is still plenty of space for the four-legged friends though.

Cheers,

Ademar
