The gang went to visit Florey’s Field for our Dog Fields series. The field ticks several boxes, has 3 acres of land, and is well secured with a 1.8 metre fence around it. It is just off the A415 and sits in a lovely rural area near Witney.

The booking was very straightforward and intuitive. The field is open from 5 am until 9 pm, so there were lots of slots to choose from. All other dog fields we’ve been to have had shorter opening times and accept up to 4 dogs, but Florey’s Field allows up to 6, so could be the perfect place for a larger dog family.

Once the booking was complete, I received an automated email with further details and a calendar appointment (ICS), allowing you to add this booking straight to your calendar. Nice touch! I also received a reminder email the day before the booking and then on the day.
To get to the field, after we crossed the bridge over the Thames, we missed the turn from the A415 into Moreton Lane and lost about 5 minutes going around. When you see the Rose Revived pub, slow down, as Moreton Lane is just a few metres after the pub. This was entirely our fault as the instructions in the booking confirmation email were very clear.

There is space for 2 or 3 cars by the gate and the same space if you want to park inside the field. The place is secure with a coded padlock, and you will receive the code in the booking confirmation email and very detailed instructions for everything.

As I said above, the field ticks several boxes. It has a fair-sized shelter, with a table and chairs, as well as a first aid box, toy box, dog drinking water, and even dog treats are available. This is the first dog field we have been in that offers dog treats. Very cute.

The field has loads of entertainment for dogs, from various tyres of different sizes to some wood trunks and a sand pit. The space is more than adequate, even for the most active dogs out there.

My only criticism was the fact the place was very muddy. I’m not talking about a bit of mud around your boots here. Some areas were “cover your boots entirely” muddy and there were even a couple of large puddles in the field. We don’t live too far from the area, and it hasn’t rained much in the last week or so. Hence I am not quite sure why it was so muddy.

There were a couple of signs saying that the field administration was looking for a solution to the mud problem. Let’s hope it is sorted, as it is a well-put-together field.
Of course, the girls didn’t mind this at all and actually enjoyed the mess. I strongly recommend you go prepared with towels for cleaning up your dogs afterwards and a change of boots, even if it hasn’t rained for a little while.
Despite this inconvenience, it is a very nice dog field, which the girls enjoyed a lot, and definitely one worth checking out if you are looking for a dog field in the area.
Cheers,
Ademar
