A blog about walks with our best companions

Introducing Gambá and Pequi, our fur babies

Our pups are Gambà and Pequi. They are the joy and chaos of the household. As they constantly feature on this site and are effectively the faces of doghikes.uk, I thought it would be good to introduce them properly.

Gambá

Gambá is a Boston Terrier born on the 12 of June 2018. She came to us at eight weeks of age and very soon showed her personality, jumping from her pen when no one was around and destroying the carpet of the staircase 🙂 She’s grown up to be a tremendous dog, independent and full of personality. As we say at home, she seems to be half-cat in her ways. Stubborn and bouncy, she loves giving kisses but allows herself to be petted just when she wants.

This girl has only two speeds in her, she is either super calm and sleepy or she’s a mental case :). It makes for a great companion and source of many smiles around the house.

Pequi

Pequi is a rescue dog. We adopted her from Animal Rescue Algarve. The date of birth on her certificate is the 1 of November 2019, but it is just an approximation, as she was found in poor condition on a farm in Portugal, and the vets added a probable date of birth.

Pequi at a rare rest when outside

The gotcha day was the 23 of October 2021. Pequi is a Portuguese Podengo. She is a very gentle dog, always keen for a cuddle and attention. She is never alone and always follows my wife or me wherever we go. She is also very energetic!

In many ways, they could not be more different from one another, but it feels like they are now proper sisters.

Thanks for checking the girls out.

Ademar
